On America’s Got Talent, the acts are there to impress the judges and hope they can make it to the next round of the competition.
Some acts have sob stories that make them memorable, while others have performances that are so original, they stand out when compared to the rest.
And at other times, an act can have such a connection with the judges, it is impossible to forget them.
When it comes to 12-year-old Jeffrey Li, he definitely falls into that last category.
Jeffrey auditioned for season 12 of America’s Got Talent and one of the first things he told the judges was that he was lonely. All Jeffrey wanted was a dog!
Clearly, this 12-year-old has done his homework, because judge Simon Cowell is a huge animal lover and has many dogs of his own at home.
For his audition, Jeffrey decided to sing “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban because it was a song he sang to keep himself from being lonely and sad.
Simon promised him that if he did well during his audition, that he would buy Jeffrey a dog of his own after the fact.
This is a very big song that many adults won’t even tackle, but Jeffrey handled it very well and delivered an incredible audition. He truly has a beautiful voice!
When Jeffrey finished singing, Heidi Klum was so excited to ask him what puppy he wanted, because she felt like he’d get getting the dog after that audition.
“Well, Jeffrey, talk about stakes! 12 years old, come out in front of 3,000 or 4,000 people, and you’re singing one of the biggest songs in the world. But I am not going to tell you yet what I think of it, until the very end.”
He then passed the floor to Howie Mandel, who obviously said yes. Mel B and Heidi both agreed with Howie and said yes, giving Jeffrey three yeses.
Then it was back to Simon pretty quickly and he had to fess up to what he thought!
As if it is any surprise, Simon loved Jeffrey’s audition. He called it excellent. And Simon is very much a man of his word.
Which meant – Jeffrey is getting a puppy thanks to Simon Cowell!
People online absolutely loved this interaction between Jeffrey and the judges and his audition.
One Facebook commenter even suggested donating one of their puppies to Simon to gift to Jeffrey:
He was great and my wife Vicki and I will donate a AKC German Shepherd to him for Simon! Our pups are 4 weeks old today so it won’t be long and we want to bless this child with his wish! Blessings!
What do you think of this 12-year-old’s audition? I think he has an incredible voice, not just for a young person, but overall, when compared to the people on AGT!
America’s Got Talent airs on NBC on Tuesdays at 8 P.M., followed directly by World of Dance.
