In 2018, Esmond Olcock was the senior citizen of Canada. His father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband all were born in 1910 and had long and fulfilling lives. He made a lot of efforts to stay in touch with everyone because his family was very important to him.
Jena Lene gave her son her grandfather’s name. Grandpa had a major influence in her life for three decades, giving her a lot of advice and spending a lot of time with her granddaughter. Baby Esmond had the chance to meet his great-grandparents, which is something that not many kids get to do.
Lena described how her grandfather first taught her to crawl before instructing her in walking and speaking. He informed his friends and family about her impending first kid when he learned of it. He felt content and pleased. When she told him she was having another son, he replied something incredible.
None of Esmond’s 71 grandchildren and great-grandchildren are named after him, he once told his wife. Lene and her husband decided right away to name their second kid after him.
When Lene finally had a chance to see her great-grandfather with her kid, things did not go as planned. She remarked: “He had no idea who I was when we got there. He was certain that he recognized my grandparents but not me.”
