A 35-year-old woman living in the United Kingdom gave birth to identical triplets naturally. The woman has given birth to her first child by I.V.F, and she is pleased that her triplet pregnancy and childbirth were “like winning the lottery.”
Lina Sapia, 35, from Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, UK, noticed her triplet pregnancy last September. Lina and her husband, Fabio, 37, were diagnosed with “unexplained ɪɴꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴛʏ” by a doctor, and she was surprised and sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ at the pregnancy.
In fact, the couple have been unable to have children for three years and have been given their eldest daughter, Alba (1), by I.V.F. And this pregnancy was just before the start of discussions, “Let’s try I.V.F again using one of the four ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴇᴅ ᴇɢɢs that had been frozen.”
Lina talks about her triplet pregnancy, which she never imagined.
“I found out that I was pregnant in September last year, and I got a positive result in pregnancy test. I thought, ‘Oh! No way.’ But it was the second time three months before I knew I was pregnant. I had a ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇ, so I was full of anxiety about whether I could continue my pregnancy.”
“I was examined on the 6th week of pregnancy, hoping that my baby would be healthy. Was asked a lot of questions by the nurse, such as “Did you feel sɪᴄᴋ lately?” There’s nothing wrong with that. ”Still, I always felt hungry, like after eating a big pizza.”
“After that, the nurse said, ‘It seems that there isn’t one heartbeat. I’ll listen to the second opinion,’ and went to call for support. I and my husband said, ‘Maybe they’re twins. I was talking, but I found that I could hear three heartbeats.”
“I was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ when I first heard ‘triplets’ because there are no multiple births in our family. Even my always-cool husband, who works as a ʀɪsᴋ analyst, was anxious in the corner of the room. He smiled, but his expression conveys the feeling of “unbelievable.” I felt as if I had won a lottery.”
Thus, Lina was examined every two weeks until the 32nd week of pregnancy, and on March 12th, Luis weighed about 1134 grams, Piero at about 1530 grams and Remi at about 1700 grams.
Lina said, “During pregnancy, I couldn’t help but worry about ‘I’m going to have a ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇ again’ or ‘I wonder if my children will be born well.’ When I saw it, I started to think, “I have to do my best, too.” After the birth of the triplet, the hospital staff said, “I have never seen an identical triplet,” and they loved it like a superhero. I got it, “he said happily.
An identical triplet is born when one ꜰᴇʀᴛɪʟɪᴢᴇᴅ ᴇɢɢ splits into two and one of them splits again. It seems that the probability of being born by natural pregnancy is 1 in 200 million, and Lewis, Piero, and Remi can be said to be “miracle children”.
Regarding the parenting of triplets, who are about to reach the age of three months, Lina reveals with happiness, “I sometimes make mistakes for three people, so I wear a wristband.”
